Although overheating may vary from one person to another, excessive sweating can lead to severe dehydration. So it is quite essential to remain hydrated during summer season. Dehydration can lead to low blood pressure, dizziness, confusion, headaches and so forth.

It is also important to compensate for all the fluids lost from the body by consuming 3-4 liters of water everyday.

Have frequent small meals at regular intervals to stay fit and energetic in summer. Meals should include fruits, whole grains, oatmeal and vegetables. Diary products can also help to cool the body and maintain its temperature. It is best to avoid beverages such as tea and coffee as it can lead to further loss of fluid from the body and dehydration. It is very important to limit the amount of alcohol consumption during summers as alcohol has the tendency to dehydrate the body.

Drinks that contain caffeine should also be avoided as it can cause increased urine output and thus the body dehydrates quickly. People who consume high protein diets should consume 8-12 glasses of water for better digestion.

Sports drinks help to replenish the body fluids and keep it well hydrated and balanced. Take plenty of rest and sleep for eight to nine hours to stay active and energetic during summer seasons.
